Decorative Heating Pad Cover


Materials needed for heating pad cover are about 5 ounces knitting worsted 4-ply acrylic yarn, size G crochet hook, 4 heavy-duty snap fasteners.
This will fit standard size; for larger size, use H hook; for smaller, use F hook.

Abbreviations:
ch (chain), sk (skip), sc (single crochet), dc (double crochet)

Gauge: 1 pattern (shell and 3 dc) equals 2 2/3 inches on G hook; 3 inches on H; 2 1/2 inches on F.

Ch 45 loosely. Rnd 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and each ch across row, ch 4, turn.
Rnd 2: Sk first sc, dc in next sc, ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc. * Sk next 2 sc (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next sc (shell made), sk 2 sc, dc in next sc; (ch 1, sk next sc, dc in next sc) twice. Repeat from * across.

Pattern Row: Ch 4, turn, dc in next dc, ch 1, dc in next dc; * (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc)in ch 1 of next shell, dc in next dc at left of shell, (ch 1, dc in next dc) twice. Repeat from * across, ending last dc in 3rd ch of end ch 4.

Repeat pattern row until piece measures l4 1/2 inches, or desired length (if not standard size) less 1/2 inch. Cut and fasten.

Turn piece upside down, join yarn to right upper corner and work opposite side of cover the same across starting ch.
Crochet sides together on right side working 2 sc in each of dc or end ch.

Work 2 rows sc around open edge. Sew snaps to tip of each shell. Steam press lightly on reverse side.
