Materials:
KNIT-CRO-SHEEN: 74 balls for Single Size; 90 balls for Double Size
Steel Crochet Hook No. 7.

Each block measures about 5 inches square.

For a single size spread 72 x 108'inches, including fringe, make 13 x 20 blocks. For a double size spread, 90 x 108 inches, including fringe, make 16 x 20 blocks.

BLOCK . . . Starting at center, ch 10. join with sl st.
1st rnd: Ch 3 (to count as dc), make a pc st in ring-to make a pc st, ch 1, make 5 dc in ring, drop loop from hook, insert hook in ch-1 preceding 5 dc and draw dropped loop through-(Fig. 82); make dc in ring. Repeat from * until 8 pc sts are complete. Join to top of ch 3.

2nd rnd: Ch 3 (to count as 1 dc), holding back on hook the last loop of next 2 dc, make 2 dc in same place as sl st, thread over and draw through all loops on hook (a 3-dc cluster made); ch 3, holding back on hook the last loop of next 3 dc make 3 dc in same place as last cluster; thread over and draw through all loops on hook (another 3-dc cluster made). Ch 21 skip next pc St, 3 dc in next dc, ch 2, skip next pc St, in next dc make a cluster, ch 3 and a cluster. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to top of lst cluster.

3rd rnd: Sl St in next Sp, ch 3 (to count as dc), in same Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster, * ch 2, 2 dc in next Sp, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next Sp, ch 2, in next Sp (corner Sp) make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to top of lst cluster.

4th rnd: Sl St in next Sp, ch 3 (to count as dc), in same Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. * ch 2, 2 dc in next Sp, dc in next 7 dc, 2 dc in next Sp, ch 2, in corner Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join last ch-2 to 1st cluster.

5th rnd: Sl St in next Sp, ch 3 (to count as dc), in same Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster, ch 2, 2 dc in next Sp, dc in next 5 dc, pc St in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next Sp, ch 2; in corner Sp make cluster, ch-3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join.

6th rnd: Sl St in next Sp, ch 3 (to count as dc), in same Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. * Ch 2, 2 dc in next Sp, dc in next 5 dc, pc St in next dc, dc in next dc, dc back of next pc St and in following dc, pc St in next dc, dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next Sp, ch 2; in corner Sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join.

7th rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Ch 2, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 5 dc, pc st in next dc, ( dc in next dc, dc in back of pc st and in following dc, pc st in next dc) twice; dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next sp, ch 2; in corner sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join.

8th rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster, * ch 2, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 5 dc, pc st in next dc, (dc in next dc, dc in back of pc st, dc in next dc, pc st in next dc) 3 times; dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next sp; in corner sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster. Repeat from * around. Join.

9th rnd: Sl st in next sp, ch 3, in same sp make cluster, ch 3 and cluster; * ch 2, 2 dc in next sp, dc in next 5 dc, pc st in next dc, (dc in next dc, dc in back of pc st, dc in next dc, pc st in next dc) 4 times; dc in next 5 dc, 2 dc in next ch 2, in corner sp make cluster, ch 3 cluster. Repeat from * around. Join and break off.

Make the necessary number of blocks and sew together neatly with over-and-over sts on wrong side.

FRINGE . . . Work a row of ch-2 sps (ch 2 and dc) along two long sides and one short side. Then make fringe in each sp along these 3 sides as follows: Cut 8 strands, each 12 inches long. Double these strands, forming a loop. Pull loop through a sp, then draw loose ends through loop. Pull tight. Trim fringe evenly to 4 inches. Block bedspread to measurements given.
